Project “Spreading the democratic culture in small towns and villages of Volynska and Chernivetska oblasts”

 

Project realization became possible due to Westminster Foundation for Democracy support
 
Realization term – from March until August 2006
Territories occupied by the project – Volyn and Chrnivtsi regions
 
Project goal: spreading the democratic culture among the deputies from local councils and public activists in small towns and villages.
 
Project objectives:
  • To teach 50 newly elected deputies in local councils and public activists to the methods and procedures of democratic decision-making and also to public relations adjustment.
  • To raise public activeness of citizens in small towns and villages by conducting of public actions, directed on exposure of real local problems and to spread the information about the opportunities and methods of rights protection through the appeals to the deputies in local councils.
 
The list of implemented activities:
  • Contest selection of 50 deputies and activists from public movement I small towns and villages for further participation in the project.  
  • Conducting, for 50 selected deputies and activists from NGO, of 6 two-day seminars trainings on the topics: “Democratic leadership”, “Parliamentary procedures”, “Public Relations”. 
  • Conducting of mass public actions “The wall of truth”, directed on exposure of main problems within the community/town/village
  • Publishing and spreading of information booklets among the citizens in small towns and villages in Western Ukraine, booklets with information on how to protect your rights through the appeals to the deputies in local councils.
